If you simply copy and paste an Excel chart into a PowerPoint presentation, you are copying not only the chart, but the entire Excel workbook, which creates a security concern, and also increases the size of the PowerPoint file. To copy just the chart itself, follow these steps:

1. Select the Excel chart and copy (CTRL+C)
2. Go to the PowerPoint presentation place your cursor where you want to copy the chart
3. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the Paste drop-down menu
4. Select Paste Special
5. In the Paste Special dialog box, select Picture
6. Click OK
